In this article, we will be sharing a breakdown of some of their characters, which will spotlight their growth as actors. We will also share possible future roles or characters that we would love to take on, all the while re-emphasizing why we believe he is one of the future stars of the industry.
Bae HyeonSeong
I want to be an actor you trust and watch. This is how he described the kind of actor he wants to be in the future. The kind that fans would see his name on the cast line and already feel excited because they know he will deliver a stellar performance. The kind that would continue to grow in talents, exceeding expectations and surprising his fans with new layers of his charms. Bae HyeonSeong Not surprisingly, his name already sounds like he was destined for fame. It has the same ring of charm and elegance to it as that of actors like Park BoGum, Park SeoJun, Kim WooBin, etc. The rising actor is currently signed to Awesome Entertainment, home to stars like Park SeoJun, Kim YooJung, Kim DoWan, Lee HyunWon, and Moon SangMin. Having made his debut in the rom-com series " What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim" in 2018, he started gaining recognition for his soft visuals and charming aura. He went on to play supporting roles in movies like the thriller “The Divine Fury”, the rom-com “Crazy Romance” and the historical drama “Hansan: Rising Dragon”. After making his debut in " What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim", that same year, he landed the role Park Haneul in the web series “Love Playlist 3” and continued as the main role with the same character in the fourth season of the series. Which was a massive hit amongst young viewers. Since then, he has been on what we can rightfully describe as a trajectory rise in not just popularity but in talents as well. But first, how did he become an actor? In an interview, he mentioned he was an ordinary student studying in JeonJu when his agency contacted him via SNS. He was asked if he had plans to learn acting and that was how he came up to Seoul. And he studied acting for a year before he started living as a trainee. While he is a shy and calm person, with acting, he believed he can express a character with a different personality from his in various ways. This fact is clearly seen in the portrayal of his various roles whose nature and charms he has been able to display with a level of finesse and flair that has not just connected them to the viewers but also earned him a spot in the hearts of many fans as well. Here is a breakdown of some of his notable works so far.
“Love Playlist 4” - Park Haneul, the university student everyone wanted as a boyfriend.
While he was introduced in the 3rd season of the series and delivered a good performance, “Love Playlist 4” is perhaps where he shines the most as Park Haneul. With a more fledged-out storyline around his character, viewers are able to understand and connect more to his story, perhaps more than they did in the previous season. His character was more reserved and laid back but he was still straightforward and charismatic as well. And combined with his visuals, he was simply ultra-attractive, and even though he had started to build a following since “Love Playlist 3”, he would gain even more with this season. His chemistry with Seo JiMin (played by Kim SaeRon) was one of the reasons why many loved this series as they were simply too cute together and they had various scenes that made the hearts of many viewers flutter. A beautiful performance from both casts, they simply made you want to drown in their storyline.
“Hospital Playlist” - Jang HongDo, the dopey and loveable intern
Just when you think the healing and comedic hospital drama couldn’t get better, we were introduced to Jang HongDo and YunBok, two interns whose scenes served as a juicy infusion that made the series even more wholesome. Playing the role of Jang HongDo, Bae HyeonSeong owned this character to a tee. He displayed traits that didn’t just make people laugh or fear for him, he also made them fall in love with him as well. His innocent yet super naive and quirky nature made everything he did and said extremely cute. Even though this was scripted and set to be funny, the way he delivers it made it feel so natural. He doesn’t seem to force it or expletively try to be funny. He is very weird and quirky, and his reactions to the silliness of our chaotic 5 make him so relatable. And somehow as the series progresses, he fits right into the bunch as we see him slowly adapt and even assimilate the weird and hilarious traits of some of the characters. P.S we hope there will be a third season of the series. In his audition for the role, it was quite clear that Bae HyeonSeong had a different personality from Jang HongDo. Which seemingly might prove a hurdle for him, but the producers believed in his hard work and passion and gave him the role.
“Our Blues” - The high school student with more wisdom and bravery than his age
With his boyish good looks and soft charms, it might feel like playing the role of a high school student fit just right for him. Playing the role of JeongHyeon, he is seen as a smart and hardworking student with a soft and gentle personality. Like every teen, he does possess a strong will but combined with a sense of optimism that was innocent and almost naive like and a maturity that was beyond his years. His character wasn’t complex or trying to give off layers or a sense of mystery, he was straightforward, expressive with his emotions, strong when he needed to be, cried when it was too hard, and shared love always. He was the kind of man that many expressively admired and fell for, soft and thoughtful but passionate and charismatic as well. Perhaps these are some of the reasons why many didn’t just fall in love with JeongHyeon but with Bae HyeonSeong as well, whose delivery of this character was as close to perfect as perfect can get.

— Mary. (@pearlnquartz) May 1, 2022 Even though this drama showed off his impressive range as an actor, it might have not been too difficult for him to fully immerse himself into the character as he revealed in this interview that JeongHyeon’s personality was very close to his real-life personality.
“Dear.M” - an upgraded version of Park Haneul
He might have not been the most famous in the cast line but he showed off his impressive acting colors that earned him many scene-stealer moments throughout the series. We believe this is what we can always expect from the rising actor. While he might not be the main lead, he always displays a color that shines so bright and seizes your attention. His scenes were quite interesting and not lacking. With Park Haneul, he showed off a depth to his emotions, making him a bit more relatable now. He still presented the cool and chic aura of Park Haneul from “Love Playlist” but this time, he also had other personality traits that made him different from him as well. He was cheerful and bright, especially around his girlfriend Seo JiMin (played by Roh JeongHui), he was smart, dutiful, and thoughtful almost to a fault, and even though at some point you’d want to smack some sense into him but that is part of his charm. Even though like everyone, he has his own conflicts and struggles and doesn’t necessarily see the bad in people and takes them as they come. While there were many mixed reviews about the series with many tagging it as “predictable” and “cliche”, others still found it “refreshing” and “interesting” as well. And while opinions may vary about the series in general, one aspect that many could all agree on was how good Bae HyeonSeong was in the series.

“Gaus Electronics” - Baek MaTan, The son of a chaebol on a quest to be normal. Well, trying anyways
His most recent work (as of the date of this article), “Gaus Electronics” is a feel-good series that is set to make you jolly and happy. And nothing is more feel-good or hilarious than a character whose every word, action, and reaction is set to elicit a response from viewers that borders from a wide smile to rib-aching bouts of laughter. One of the most common denominations or a key takeaway from all of his works so far, irrespective of the role or genre is how beautifully well he shines in his series. His delivery is always natural. Be it the smart but aloof son of a chaebol in this series or the cool and reserved college student in “Love Playlist”, there is a level of sincerity and honesty he presents with his characters that makes viewers gravitate towards him with ease. His role in this series was yet again a brilliant infusion that made the entire 12 episodes of the series a wholesome viewing experience. His quips and silliness were such a thrill to watch and perhaps what made it even more entertaining was the fact that in many K-Dramas, this type of character would originally be seen as cold, mean, and somewhat arrogant (the type that eventually shows off his attractive colors as the series progresses), however, perhaps its the genre or Bae HyeonSeong’s delivery, but Baek MaTan steers in the opposite direction. He is thoroughly loveable and a joy to watch. As he grows older and becomes more experience, we are excited to see the kind of roles he takes on in the future. In an interview with Tap Comics, the actor said “I want to broaden my acting horizons. I want to play a character who appears to be a good person on the surface but is actually a villain”. “I hope my acting will have a variety of emotions and twists. I want to be the type of actor that the audience will watch the drama because I was chosen to act in it.” This statement is an inconceivable fact that he fully understands his goal as an actor and is in a continuous process of refining his skills. Taking more challenging roles might prove to be easy for the rookie actor as even with his few projects, he already played a diverse range of characters.
His future projects
1. A thriller drama
He would like to work with Kim WooBin in the future. Perhaps a thriller drama where he plays the role of a teen wrongfully accused of murder and is about to be put in jail for life. Kim Woobin could play the role of his elder brother who believes he is innocent and does everything he can to pursue the truth and bring the real killer to court before the day of sentencing.
2. A slice-of-life drama
Since he is often regarded as the younger version of Park BoGum, a coming-of-age series starring the two of them would surely tickle the fancy of many fans who are excitedly waiting for this pairing. Asides from being an impressive actor with a talent that invariably sets him as one of the future stars of the industry, the rising actor also possesses the visuals that make him a heartthrob. With his dreamy boyish looks, tall height, model-like physique, and combined with his increasing popularity, he also poses as a prime prospect for various CF ads and magazine shoots as well.
Shin HyunSeung
Shin HyunSeung is a budding fresh actor who is on a steady rise to fame. He first came into the spotlight after being selected as one of the winners of the 5000: 1 competition, an integrated audition sponsored by Kakao M. He is currently signed to Earnest Entertainment. He made his acting debut in 2021, landing the main role in the web drama “Be My Boyfriend”. An impressive feat for a relatively unknown actor. Swaying the hearts of fans with his boyish good looks, towering height, and soft personality, he no doubt joined the rank of Web drama boyfriends as fans couldn’t help but gush about how good he looked. From web drama to TV series, he made his TV debut with yet another lead role in the Netflix sitcom “So Not Worth It”. And as he continues to deservedly land more roles in various successful projects, he is slowly going from “one to watch” to “surely a big star of the future”. Like Bae HyeonSeong, Shin HyunSeung is etching his name in the hearts of K-Drama fans through his acting which has seen him play a diverse range of roles since his debut a year ago. How did he become an actor? He revealed to Chosun TV that he decided to become an actor after watching a theatre play. While the audience might fall asleep during the play or might seemingly wonder if they were having fun watching it, he wondered if it was fun being on stage and he sought to find out. Well, we might say that decision has panned out well, as he is clearly having fun now, especially considering the amount of warm reception his series have received. From the dopey and cheery-natured teenager in “Be My Boyfriend” to the cool and reserved son of a famous celebrity in “So Not Worth It” and the innocent yet ambitious young writer’s assistant in the thriller series “Adamas”, here is a breakdown of his roles so far and some of the traits he possesses that makes him a star of the future.
“Be My Boyfriend” - Lee SeungMin, the cute and cuddly teen we all fell in love with
“Be My Boyfriend” saw Shin HyunSeung as the quintessential high school crush that we could all easily fall for. Right from the start, he was perceived as the hero of the series, having displayed a level of innocence and charm that was simply endearing. From the moment he appeared on the screen, he seizes the attention of the viewer who might find his behavior adorable and almost winsome. Even though he was notably a bit stiff with his acting in the first couple of episodes of the series, it is quite okay as like his character he slowly become more confident with his expressions and delivery as the series progressed. At the end, his acting here earned him great reviews and praise from fans who were expressively thrilled with the fact that he was a rookie actor and one with clearly great potential. One of the resounding comments that came through from fans was his adorable chemistry with female lead Lee SiWoo. As the story unfolds we see his character slowly grow from shy and timid to confident and even charismatic. His growth, even though expected, was not rushed but almost natural. We can also relate this steady growth to Shin HyungSeung as an actor today.
“So Not Worth It” - Jamie, the son of a celebrity who tries to hide his status
Quite in contrast to his character in “Be My Boyfriend” Jamie was more reserved and has a cool-like expression that would ordinarily scare people off. Trying to keep a low profile, he didn’t seem to be too interested in making friends and would come off as a bit standoffish. However, we see his character become more open and accepting. As the series progresses, viewers see him let his guard down and become more warm and caring. In terms of his delivery, there was no stiffness or moments where his interactions were subpar. Even though this was his second series, he had already started showing an amazing growth with his expressions and dialogue. Notably, in this series, his character had a couple of scenes where he had to speak English. To prepare for it, he noted that his fellow cast mate, Terris Brown (who plays the role of Terris) would record the English dialogue and help him with the pronunciations. Shin HyunSeung’s ability to immerse himself into his character is one of his strongest yet growing traits. He once mentioned that he was taught to become best friends with his character. To fully understand his character to the point where his is able to mimic and respond to certain things in a similar way.
“Pumpkin Time” - Kang TaeJoo, the rising baseball star who falls in love with the look alike of his best friend
The high teen fantasy drama saw Shin HyunSeung return to web dramas and have a very productive and successful debut year. Starring as Kang TaeJoo, he plays the role of a talented high school baseball star with high prospects who returns to South Korea. There the only person he remembers and misses is his long-time best friend Shin HaeWon who magically turned to a girl and is now Shin HaeYoon (played by Lee SooMin). With constant interactions, a romantic flame is kindled however there is a chance of it being blown out if the truth behind Shin HaeYoon was revealed. In terms of characters, this might have not been considered too much of a stretch for Shin HyunSeung to play as he had successfully played a teen role before. However, this character still varied in terms of his expressions and his emotions. While his previous teenage role might have been a clear-cut dreamy character, Kang TaeJoo possessed a hint of mystery and intrigue that plays to the minds of his viewers. You immediately recognize the fact that there is a story here. Behind the dreamy good looks and machismo aura he presented, there were layers to his personality and we as viewers looked forward to seeing it. Props to Shin HyunSeung for yet another stirring work. From supporting roles to lead character soon? The year 2022 has not been a dull year for the rising actor as well, as he has been a staple name in the cast line of many series. While he had played a lead role in a OTT drama with “So Not Worth It”, he has been playing more supporting roles lately, which is quite understandable for a rookie actor. Clearly, he has been able to convince a lot of writers and directors of his budding acting skills has he has been cast in many popular dramas like “Shting Stars”, “Adamas” and more recently “Behind Every Star”. With “Shting Stars”, viewers would get a kick out of his character as it almost feels like a continuation of his role as Lee SeungMin from “Be My Boyfriend”. This feeling of nostalgia is also predominately reinforced by the fact that his costar and love interest is the same actress that plays Oh JiNa in the series, is also his love interest in this one as well. In this series, he plays the character of a budding newcomer who starts to gain recognition for his hard work and talents. His performance in the series garnered him much recognition as one of the rookie actors who stole the hearts of fans. His character’s love-hate relationship with Jin YooNa (Played by Lee SiWoo) served as one of the interesting subplots of the series. With personalities that were polar opposite, their funny quips, hilarious banter and silliness only made their attraction for each other even more clear and viewers thoroughly enjoyed their storyline.
It’s really nice to see them adore each other… their baby will definitely be loved and cherished!#ShootingStars #ShootingStarsEp16 pic.twitter.com/3Kpm5lg0ST — frankie (@kdramamementos) June 11, 2022 In “Adamas” Shin HyunSeung shows off a different color of his acting. His character as Lee DongMin, while still possessing some levels of optimism and cheer he was still much layered in terms of emotions as he portrayed a character that was somewhat conflicted and troubled writer’s assistant who unwittingly found himself in a precarious situation. Despite his naivety, his puppy-like charms also made him so endearing, and yet again, his chemistry with his costar Ji Sung was adorable and funny. “Behind Every Star” is a comedy series that follows the stories of managers of an entertainment agency and how they tackle the unending issues their celebrity clients present while also keeping them happy and helping them shine. While we are in the 4th episode of the comedy series (as of the date of this article) there is not yet much to go on with his character. In this series, Shin HyunSeung plays the role of Go EunGyeol the handsome budding actor and son of Ma TaeOh, a top executive in the agency. With his already impressive acting record, there is no doubt he will yet again captivate the attention of the audience with this character and gain more recognition for his talents as well. An actor striving to have fun and enjoy each moment. While he shines so brightly as a star, as an everyday person, Shin HyunSeung seems to be like the rest of us as he no doubt has his own insecurities too. While talking about how he’s been able to get this far as an actor, he mentioned that he wondered if he has been able to come this far because he met people who had looked at him favorably. Perhaps this speaks to his goal to give his best, to work better than he did, and show an amazing work that would match the amount of praise and recognition he is getting today. All of which he rightly deserves. When talking about the kind of actor he wants to be, he mentioned he doesn’t have many strong aspirations as an actor. He choose to be one because it was fun and he wants to cherish this feeling for as long as possible. He seems to find a lot of fulfillment and joy from just being able to display his skills and thrill the hearts of viewers with his passion. A noteworthy and commendable trait that will no doubt continue to reflame his dedication to his craft.
Possible future roles
With just a few works under his belt, Shin HyunSeung is showing he is a versatile actor who can deliver a range of emotions that fit any genre. And as he continues on his trajectory ride to the sky, we have come up with some roles we would like to see him play in the future.
1. A healing drama
Centered around the lives of youth today, this drama spotlights the troubles that many young people face. From societal pressures to relationships, unemployment, the quest to succeed, mental health issues, as well as vices and their effects in the lives of youths.
2. An office rom-com
A simple yet entertaining drama about the complications that arise from being tagged “the office couple”. While he has played something similar in “Sh**ting Stars” this series will have him be the lead and enable him to further showcase his capabilities as a leading actor in this genre. Like Bae HyeonSeong, Shin HyunSeung also has an amazing prospect of being one of the most sought-after actors by brands and magazines. With a height of 185cm and an amazing body proportion that makes everything he wears look so good, he could also double as a CF model as well.
He already has an advert with FILA in which he starred in an advert with famous actress Kim YooJung. Have you seen any of these actors’ series? Do you agree with our statement?
