Many Korean celebrities have tattoos and fans are always curious about what they mean or the story behind why they got them. This series will explore the meanings behind some of your favorite celebrities’ tattoos. MAMAMOO WheeIn’s Ggomo and perfume tattoos opened the series for us followed by MONSTA X MinHyuk’s whale knee tattoo. This week we’ll be covering (G)I-DLE Yuqi’s Corgi and paw prints shoulder tattoo. (G)I-DLE has just made their comeback with their first full-length album “I Never Die” and the title track ‘TOMBOY’. Fans have been loving the comeback, music video, and especially the styling and fierce concept that suits the (G)I-DLE members. You can read more about that here. One of the things that fans noticed in the music video was that Yuqi gave a glimpse of her tattoo.

(@haemjis__) March 14, 2022 Yuqi started with a tattoo of a cute Welsh Corgi dog with a heart on her right shoulder. She revealed it to fans in July of 2020 and she has affectionately named him Kkiqi (끼기 in Korean). Her tattoo artist shared a picture on their Instagram (@coreatattoo). The name Kkiqi comes from one of Yuqi’s nicknames Yuqiqi (우기기 in Korean) and she used her nickname as the base to name her tattoo after herself. Fellow (G)I-DLE member MiYeon once said that Yuqi tends to use the nickname Kkiqi for a lot of things that she likes such as her stuffed bunny, giraffes, etc. Yuqi told MiYeon that all of Kkiqi are her family. Yuqi has even joked about being from Kkiqi Land before. It is clearly a very special name to her. Many fans were surprised by the tattoo because Yuqi has always shared that she loves giraffes the most and knows everything about them. However, she also loves Welsh Corgis which is why she decided to get the tattoo. Later, Yuqi added another addition to her tattoo. She said that Kkiqi seemed lonely so she added 3 pawprints to her shoulder. In a V-Live, Yuqi explained that those pawprints represent footprints on her journey of coming to Korea alone and working hard to achieve her dreams step by step. What do you think of Yuqi’s tattoos?
