There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Lynn is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from Bahrain. She is a fan of BTS and more particularly of Jin! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? Hi, I am Lynn, a working mom from Bahrain. How and when did you enter the fandom? My daughter is into BTS since 2017. I wasn’t that into them before but I supported my daughter since I observed that they have a good influence on her. It was until she played the song ‘Spring Day’ and ‘Epiphany’ in the car when I asked who sang it, and she said BTS. Since then I got hooked. It was 2020, such a late bloomer (laughs). What are the reasons why you love your favorite group? They are humble, and I love the message of their music. Who caught your attention at first and why? As I said, I was caught through their song ‘Spring Day’ and ‘Epiphany’, I searched for a live performance of it on YouTube with subtitles, I was able to search Jin’s concert performance at Wembley, he caught me there and hooked on their music and explored more of their songs. Who is your bias, and why? I am an OT7 stan, but my favorite is Jin, as an artist, I like the way he sings, it’s emotional… Personality wise, I like the way he takes care of his fellow members. Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? Title Track: ‘Life Goes On’, (because of the message)… and B- side: ‘Go Go’ ( because it’s just chillin’). Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? “Eat Jin”. Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group? All of their content! It’s really worth your time.. (“Run BTS”, “Bon Voyage”, etc.).
Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “I’m the one who should love in this world” - ‘Epiphany’ Are there any words from the members you would like to share? “Live at your own pace”. - Kim SeokJin (Jin) What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life? They have this kind of positive vibe that makes you go on with your life lighter and cooler. My daughter and I have something to talk about different from the usual mother-daughter stuff (you know what I mean? aside from the boring stuff like “how’s school? wash the dishes, go straight home etc ..LOL) Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why. I know that Jin is a film major. I really love to see him in a K-Drama (romcom) . He can really act!!! It’s a waste if he doesn’t try even once. What’s your favourite 2022 moment involving your bias? I subscribed to their PTD concert in Las Vegas, the last day. I was touched how J-Hope put good words on Jin regarding his performance despite his injury. J-Hope is just a very nice human being, they all are.. you seldom see this in a group of artists. I was a fan of a boy band way back (Backstreet) . I was able to watch them live in a concert, but there’s nothing like that moment at the BTS concert though I am only watching it online. I can feel the sincerity and authenticity. Is there some food you saw your bias group eat that made you crave it too? I was not into ramen before, but now we have stock of it and I bought an appliance in case we want to have samgyupsal. What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? I am enjoying it with my daughter. It made our relationship stronger. Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)? I really don’t care about what they say, haters gonna hate, lovers gotta love. Lynn’s message to BTS: Hi BTS, just continue to do the things you love to do, keep on inspiring. Stay humble as you are. As an international fan, we want you to know that we are grateful to your parents and South Korea as well for sharing such talented and “organic” artists like all of you to the world. Stay happy! Thank you for answering our questions, Lynn. If you are interested in joining Kpopmap Fan Interview Project, please get in touch with us at [email protected] Everyone is welcome to participate.
