There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Veronika from Russia is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of BAE173! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? Hello everyone! My name is Veronika (my Twitter account is @hangyulpuppyboy)! I am from Russia! How and when did you enter the fandom? I’ve known HanGyul and DoHyon for almost 3 years, ever since they debuted in X1. J-Min, YooJun, Muzin, JunSeo, YoungSeo, Doha, Bit I’ve known since their first profiles appeared. In short, I’ve been following BAE173 since pre-debut times. What are the reasons why you love your favorite group? I love BAE173 because they are very bright and emit a lot of positive energy…It really energizes me. They say a lot of good things and are also not afraid to share their experiences. I love them for their sincerity. They are INSANELY talented! Their ability to learn choreography quickly shocks me (in a good way, heh)! And BAE173 is also the most fun and charming! They charm the host of any show they appear on 🙂 Who caught your attention at first and why? Most likely it was JunSeo! I remember his bright smile in the pre-debut video teaser! I literally fell in love with his smile! Who is your bias, and why? In fact, right now it seems to me that all BAE173 members are my one big bias! It’s already hard to choose…I affectionately call the boys “my kids” and it doesn’t matter that 3 members are older than me, and two are my peers 🙂 Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? The boys don’t have many albums yet, so I recommend all three title tracks: the debut ‘Crush on U’, the title song of the second mini-album ‘Loved You’ and the recent release ‘JAWS’! All three songs are in a completely different concept and confirm that boys can do any concept! If we talk about B-side tracks, then you should listen to ‘Runnin’’! Our amazing and talented maknae DoHyon, he wrote the track completely himself and now ‘Runnin’’ has become the “intro” of the 3rd mini-album “BLAZE”! But in fact I recommend listening to all the boys’ B-side tracks, you will really be pleasantly surprised! Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? The very first video that I show people when I introduce the band is the pre-debut performance on KBS “Immortal Songs 2” with the song BTS – ‘I need u’! At the time of recording the performance, BAE173 had not yet debuted!!! They showed such a strong and professional performance that even one of the producers of BTS – ‘Pdogg’, clapped BAE173 standing up! If we also talk about covers, then BAE173 created several, I’m not afraid of this word, legendary moments: HanGyul, YooJun, Muzin, YoungSeo - aespa ‘Savage’ Dance Cover and my favorite YoungSeo cover, YoungSeo - ‘That’s Hilarious’ (cover). and JunSeo dance video. Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “Sometimes this road can be hard, but you don’t have to be anxious” - this YooJun lines in ‘Not Alone’ ! These lines are simple, but they are so important! Are there any words from the members you would like to share? “Don’t cry baby there are many thing in life to appreciate”- these are the words of DoHyon. What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life? I always have something to do! I lead an information and entertainment community about BAE173 on the russian social network VK (vk.com/baelylovely). I translate VLive, articles, sometimes I make subtitles for videos. Also because of the boys, I now know a lot about Korean cuisine, as they often write on fancafe about their trips to restaurants and cooking at home. In general, every day I learn more and acquire new skills! What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? Meet people all over the world! It’s true, my favorite side of fangirling. It is very interesting to watch ELSE from these countries and learn something about their culture! I also really like that ELSE arranges different projects for members’ birthdays or for debut anniversaries! I participated in a project dedicated to the birthday of Muzin and ELSE from different countries sent him their wishes and all this was collected in one book and sent to him! He saw this gift and thanked ELSE. At such moments, it’s nice to realize that you are becoming a part of something like this! Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)? “They have such a strange name…What is it? How does it even read?” - this and about a hundred similar phrases I saw in the direction of BAE173 🙁 What is a random fact that you think people don’t know about them? BAE173 members are themselves fans of various K-Pop groups and soloists! Bit – ATINY (the name of the ATEEZ fandom) he was at a concert and he has a couple of albums. He said that he wakes up in the morning and looks at the ATEEZ poster with the words: “I will become like them.” J-Min – Moodz (the name of the WOODZ solo artist’s fandom) he has repeatedly said that he loves WOODZ music, he even recently wrote a whole review for a new album, and HanGyul, since he is a friend of WOODZ, introduced J-Min to him! And they even made a video together! The boys talk about their sunbae very often and I’m sure they cover songs of different groups with special trepidation! For you, what is your bias’ best stage outfits until now? Please share a picture or fan cam. These outfits are my favorite! The first outfits since the ‘Loved You’ promotion, the image is perfectly matched for each members! The second outfits of the ‘JAWS’ era, I liked these images even in the music video and I was very glad that the boys would perform in them!
What is your biggest dream for your favorite group/bias aside from being Happy and Healthy? I want BAE173 to visit different entertainment shows! They really have a lot of potential and I’m sure they will be able to cheer everyone up and show something interesting! If you go to only one, would you go to a concert, fan meeting, or fan sign? I would choose fan sign because there are things I would like to personally tell members! Describe them in 5 words Bright Sincere Unique Funny Cute. Would you like to see your bias group in variety shows? What type of variety show would you like them to do? They definitely need to go on a trip, because HanGyul has the rights to drive a camping car and the boys have talked about it more than once!
