The Canadian-Korean is making it clear that this upcoming album and tour is a testament to how much he has been through in order to get where he is today. His new album gives viewers a good look into the obstacles and feelings that he felt while becoming an artist, giving it his all in this album. Fans will be able to check out JUNNY’s concert as he is going on his first ever North American tour, The “blanc” tour, where he will be performing in eleven venues all across the United States and Canada. Kpopmap was lucky enough to be able to sit down with the artist to discuss his upcoming album and tour. Hi JUNNY, thank you for taking the time to hang out with Kpopmap and its readers! It is exciting to hear that you are gearing up for your first ever North American Tour as well as your first full album release titled “blanc.” To get right into it, what are you looking forward to most about going on your first North American tour? I’m looking forward to seeing my North American fans of course! Being able to see them in person and performing for them is a dream come true and I’m just so excited to put on a great show for you all! 🙂 You mentioned that this album is inspired by the people that surround you. Who are these people you are referring to and how do they influence you? There are so many people to name! But in general, people that have impacted me a significant way in my life – that’d be my first love, first heartbreak, life mentors, and most importantly my fans. Out of all the tracks on your album, which one do you think you feel the most emotional and close to? It’s gotta be my title song “Not About You” because it can’t get any more personal than this. If you’re curious on what it’s about you’ll have to go listen to the song 😉 As you say farewell to your youth in this album, what is one word of advice you would give to your younger self? Appreciate every moment for what it is whether it be good or bad, because these experiences make who you are in the end! Touching on the theme of colors and you being a canvas, which color do you think best represents you? Right now answering this interview, I think I’d have to be the colour red because I’m mad nervous for this album to drop!!!!! What is your experience with love & farewells? Is there anything you’ve learned from that experience in particular? Love is so important in many different ways, as much as farewells because sometimes you have to learn to let go and accept differences. I think that’s what made me grow as a person and an artist. I always believe that if something must exit your life, another special something will come and fill in that empty space. The title song shows a more bitter side of yourself. Was there a specific event or realization that brought you to this moment? It’s actually a true story about a past experience with my first love way back! Years after us breaking up, I heard through the vine that she thought all my songs were about her! I thought this would be a great opportunity to straighten things up 😉 Did you experience any writer’s block during this album or find it difficult to find creative inspiration? What do you usually do if you find yourself stuck creatively? I think this is one of the reasons why I worked on this album with a team of songwriters and musicians I trust in. Every song, every session we had was always about brainstorming and figuring out ways to express my personal experiences into a song. Thankfully we were able to enjoy the process, and the respect we have for each other really shows in the music itself. And lastly, what is one last thing you want to say to your fans all over the world who have supported you through it all? Hey JUNNIVERSE! I’m so thankful for each and every one of you and the amount of love you give me everyday motivates me in ways I can’t even explain. I am thankful for your existence and hopefully my album “blanc” will make you proud of being a fan of JUNNY. Hope to see you very soon and a BIG shoutout to Kpopmap for these amazing questions!! I appreciate you all so much. Thank you!! Thank you again to JUNNY for being so open and honest in this interview. We can be sure that his career will only continue to grow from here on out. Make sure you check out his new album and tour if you’re in any of the cities! Kpopmap fam! Are you a fan of JUNNY and are you looking forward to his new album? Let us know in the comments below!
