On November 21, SEVENTEEN concluded their online concert series, Power of Love. I was expecting a lot of action and memorable moments and SEVENTEEN certainly did not disappoint. The third and final show (and oh, what a show it was) took each concertgoer through a rollercoaster of emotions. From the hopeful warm fuzzies to intense feelings that one experiences in love, I got to feel all of what fans felt through a three-hour jam-packed concert that I was able to watch from the comfort of my own home (and pajamas). CARAT from around the world logged in early to Venewlive.com so they didn’t miss one second of the 5 PM KST concert. Anxious and excited messages were exchanged between the fans in the live chat as some of SEVENTEEN’s hit music videos (such as ‘Rock With You’ and ‘Left, Right’) were playing on the screen. Finally, it was showtime! The introduction video played as fans waited in anticipation for their favorite idols to appear on stage. This introduction video was a visual treat and foreshadowed all the visually stimulating imagery that would be incorporated in this show. The red string, red floor, red curtains, and red roses made way for showstopping opening performances of ‘Crush’ and ‘Anyone’. These performances had futuristic, industrial vibes, complete with fire, a spectacular light and laser display, and my personal favorite, the colorful microphones. They performed with such feeling and emotion and their choreography was on point, as it always is. One of the highlights of the night was Woozi’s guitar solo at the beginning of their performance of ‘Clap’. He rocked it out, the rest of the group appeared to transition into the rest of the song, and the fire totally set it off. It was totally unexpected and totally awesome. After their first few performances, the group took the time to introduce themselves and speak to their fans. Although Jun and THE8 couldn’t be there with the rest of their bandmates physically, they were able to video chat in to say hello to everyone, including everyone online. SEVENTEEN led their chant (SEVENTEEN, clap, clap, Power of Love!) before launching into the next part of their performances. SEVENTEEN continued strong with wonderful performances of ‘Ready To Love’ and ‘Crazy in Love’. Another performance I enjoyed was for ‘Network Love’. Vernon and Joshua appeared on stage with their dancers while Jun and THE8’s performances appeared on the screen. I really appreciated how they were able to incorporate the technology that they had at their disposal to make it feel like Jun and THE8 were there without them actually being there in person. The night continued with performances of ‘Fast Pace’, ‘I Wish’, ‘Home’, ‘Same Dream’, ‘Same Mind’, ‘Same Night’, ‘Imperfect Love’, ‘Hero (Zero)’, ‘If I’, ‘Oh My’, ‘I Can’t Run Away’, ‘My,My’, ‘Heaven’s Cloud’, ‘Beautiful’, and ‘To You’. My ultimate favorite performance of the night was ‘Bittersweet’. The background was what I would describe to be a colorful but moody urban landscape with rainfall, not too unlike the official music video. Prior to this concert, I had not listened to this song before. Although I hadn’t listened to the song (nor do I speak Korean very well yet), I was able to feel WonWoo and MinGyu lamenting a lost love through the way they sang. They gave a really powerful performance that transcended language barriers. I also really enjoyed their performances of ‘Snap Shoot’ and ‘호랑이 Power’. In ‘Snap Shoot’, everyone began performing in choir robes and shed those to reveal school uniforms. This song was fun and energetic, complete with a pause in the song for a moment of faux selfies. The shutter sound indicating their pictures being captured transitioned into the beat that brought the song back in for them to finish performing. ‘호랑이 Power’ was also enjoyable to watch as Hoshi performed with dancers wearing cat ears and there was one that even wore a tiger head! The night ended with awesome performances of their hits ‘Rock With You’, ‘Left, Right’, and ‘All My Love’. SEVENTEEN’s “Power of Love” concert was a delight to watch and I was so happy that I was able to tune in. I can’t wait for the next concert! I hope that I can be there in person to witness it so I can experience firsthand the incredible energy that I know will be there when SEVENTEEN reunites with their fans.
