It’s only been a short time since the girl group debuted and ever since then, there have been a few moments when fans have expressed their dissatisfaction towards the promotion and marketing of the girl group. Now it seems that HINAPIA’s manager has had enough. The manager recently went on a rant online, telling fans that if they aren’t content with the staff’s effort and works with HINAPIA’s marketing, then they should do it themselves. The whole thing seems to have started when fans criticized the agency for banning photos from being taken at paid fan meetings. And soon, some fans and netizens found the manager’s rant somewhat agreeable, as they felt there were fans who were complaining too much and not appreciating the efforts of staff members. However, they did also mention that the manager’s tone was unprofessional, despite speaking facts, and that it might have been better if the issue was addressed in a more formal manner. Below is an apology from OSR Entertainment.

We sincerely apologize to anyone offended by the comments. The staff member is currently reflecting upon the actions displayed and understands the severity of the behavior. As an agency, we also acknowledge that we are responsible for this as well. Such events will never happen again and we once again apologize to all the fans who have been supportive of HINAPIA.” This definitely does raise the issue of fandoms and how they communicate with agencies. Judging by the facts the manager has laid out, if a fandom communicates in a threatening manner to get what they want towards agencies, it most definitely doesn’t sound like a healthy form of communication. Some upvoted comments from netizens stated: “The manager’s speech was just a bit too strong and inappropriate, but I must agree. Facts.” Of course, it’s also complicated due to the fact that fans have a lot of love for their idol groups, and sometimes they may have a tendency to blame agencies if they have any reason to believe that agencies are not giving their best to support the group. Maybe the simple thing to do would be for all parties would be to communicate with each other while maintaining an appropriate amount of respect towards each other?
