Lee JaeWook is an award-winning Hallyu heartthrob who has been steadily stealing the hearts of K-Drama fans over the years with his Adonis-like looks and versatile acting. If you’re new to Lee JaeWook, here is some basic information about him. He was born on May 10, 1998, and has been a hard worker for a long time. Lee JaeWook has been diligent since his middle school days, working all sorts of part-time jobs to earn pocket money such as at the convenience store, car wash, clothing stores, etc. He spent the money on his interest in fashion, which explains why he is so stylish today. Lee JaeWook entered university as a Theatre Arts major, setting a solid foundation for his acting career. He made his acting debut with “Memories of Alhambra” (2018) which also happened to be the first audition he had ever attended just after entering university. After he passed the audition, he was scouted by VAST Entertainment, which he has since left. Let’s take a look at some of his most notable roles. Lee JaeWook’s role in “Search WWW” (2019) as Seo JiHwan was one that took K-Drama fans by pleasant surprise. This was one of his first couple of drama roles and yet he delivered a standout performance. To sum up the impact that his performance had, we’ll quote this fan, “For being so young, he really holds his own in this drama full of strong older women. I was shocked by how much I loved his character.”
In his role as Baek Kyung in “Extraordinary You” (2019), Lee JaeWook showcases his ability to authentically portray heavy emotions and the complexities thereof. He portrayed vulnerability and loneliness, which are emotions that are often hard to make an audience believe. However, he portrayed them as if they came effortlessly to him. Again, this role made fans take note of him as an actor because of his natural affinity to the spotlight. This role was particularly moving because he noted how opposite Baek Kyung’s personality is to his own, which made the role more interesting for him to take on and understand.
In “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol” (2020), he played Sun WooJoon. His acting was praised again for being incredibly believable and tugging at the audience’s heartstrings. He showed his lovable qualities by reflecting them through his character.
Jang Uk (Lee JaeWook’s most recent character in “Alchemy of Souls” (2022)) is yet another character that only made us fall deeper in love with him; if that’s even possible when we already love him so much. Not only was the chemistry between him and co-star Jung SoMin palpable and heart-fluttering, but Lee JaeWook’s performance will have you both clutching your sides in laughter and in your feels at the same time with his puppy-like actions. His conviction of Jang Uk’s character arc and coming-of-age into being powerful was extremely well-done. To quote another fan about the caliber of his performance, “Lee JaeWook was fantastic. Despite being a relatively new actor, he seemed to outperform veteran actors!”
This explains why many journalists referred to Lee JaeWook as a super rookie just one year into his debut! Are you looking forward to seeing him in the sequel “Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow” this December? If you are, let us know in the comments! These are only a few of a world full of productions in his filmography. Make sure to check out his full filmography to discover more of his charms. Lee JaeWook is known for the depth and range of his skill as an actor. Whether he is playing the villain or a sweetheart, he has become an actor that fans can rely on to deliver an incredible performance no matter the genre or character, proving his wide acting spectrum. This is a testament to his diversity as the main character not only in the K-Drama world but in our hearts, too. He often gets mistaken for being older than his real age due to his excellent acting. His skills are that of someone who has had years more experience acting in dramas than he actually has, giving him a huge advantage over his other peers in their twenties. As such, many suspect that he is entering his golden era as an actor already, setting himself up to become one of the biggest names among actors in the Hallyu wave. His being mistaken for being older can also be credited to his rugged but soft charm. He has an Adonis-like sculpturesque charm that is softened when he smiles and adopts a youthful glow. As we mentioned before, he has a huge interest in fashion. His stylish nature is a huge reason behind his successful modeling career on top of his acting career, as well. As if he couldn’t be any more perfect, another aspect about Lee JaeWook that fans love is his boyfriend/husband material persona. Playing right into his husband material persona, Lee JaeWook’s hobby is cooking. He loves looking up recipes and learning how to make new dishes according to the recipes that he has found. He particularly loves Western foods such as pasta and steak, which he of course enjoys making himself. Lee JaeWook is also very sentimental. In his spare time, he enjoys watching films and writing things by hand (uncommon in the digital age); and that sentiment even applies to his work. When taking on a role or a character, Lee JaeWook often puts pen to paper to create character maps where he analyzes the character and how to tell their story best. Directors that he has worked with often praise him for his detailed interpretation of characters and the way that he absorbs their backstories and makes them his. On top of these amazing traits, Lee JaeWook is downright hilarious. He has a stellar sense of humor that makes his fans and peers smile, brightening their day. He is known for being a vibrant and positive ray to many. In behind-the-scenes videos from his drama shoots, you can often find him playing around with his colleagues and co-stars. He is definitely the kind of guy that everyone wants to hang around because of his vitamin-like energy. To finish off this article, we’ll quote one more of his fans, “I can’t with this guy. I feel like he took my heart and didn’t give it back.😢” What do you think? Do you have a crush on Lee JaeWook?
