If you also want to know more about the actor, check out the actor’s answers exclusive interview below. Briefly, tell us who you are to the Kpopmap readers! When did you come to Korea and what did you do before becoming an actor in Korea? Hello, my name is Terris Brown and I’m from the U.S. Before coming to Korea, I was just a university student unsure of what I wanted to do, but I had done some acting as a child and I luckily got the chance to start acting again while I was here, so I decided to chase that childhood dream of mine. It’s been about 10 years in total that I’ve lived in Korea and I couldn’t pick a better place to call my second home! Congratulations on your first NETFLIX series! What was it like to work with people from different cultural backgrounds in one TV show? There’s not a lot of opportunities to work with such a diverse cast here in Korea, so it was an amazing experience and I’m so proud to have been a part of the team. It was great to be surrounded by so many cultures and bond over our love and experiences here in Korea. You have worked in the Korean entertainment industry for a while now and have made several appearances in TV shows and films including “True Beauty” and “Jazzy Misfits”. With that, who are your closest friend(s) in the entertainment industry? Any K-Pop idols? I’ve gotten close with many people over the years, but some people in the entertainment industry that have taken especially great care of me, have been all of the cast from so not worth it, Cheetah, actor Lee SooKwang(이수광), actor/director Nam YeonWoo (남연우), who I’ve gotten close to while filming Jazzy Misfits, actor Yoon Bak (윤박), and many other foreign talents here in Korea. What are some of your favorite foods you had in Korea and as a counterpart, what food do you miss the most that you cannot have it in Korea? Nowadays I’m really into Soondae, which is odd because I didn’t really like it the first time I had it! I miss home cooked meals from home the most though! I come from a Trinidadian background and while Korea has food from a lot of different regions, Caribbean food is not something I’ve really been able to find here. So I hope someone opens up a restaurant soon! In your previous interview with KBS World Radio, you have mentioned that you were a big dramahead when you first came to Korea which also helped you improve your Korean skills. Can you tell us which drama(s) you enjoyed while you were learning Korean at the time? And why? I think some of the first dramas I watched were, “Dong-yi”, “Smile You”, the “Reply” series, and many more! I liked all of them for different reasons, but I think they all had certain lessons to teach and I was able to pick up on phrases and different aspects of Korean culture while watching them.
A post shared by Terris Brown (@brownterris) What are some of the cultural differences that you have experienced at first that now became a part of you, as you live in Korea? Bowing to people when you meet them has become second nature to me that I do it, even when I’m back home in America. Small things like that, or using two hands to give things to people… I find myself using a lot of Korean mannerisms that I don’t even know are Korean sometimes. I’ve just become so accustomed to living here that it feels natural now! In your own words, can you give us a brief description of the character you are playing in “So Not Worth It” for readers who did not watch it yet? The character Terris I play, is a bit of a casanova and a know-it-all. He acts conceited sometimes, but he does love his friends deep down. He can be a bit standoffish, but he goes through some growth throughout the show. In the future, what type of roles do you want to try? Or which genre do you want to be in? I really would like to try playing a psychopath. I’ve never gotten to do something like that, but I think it would be super fun and interesting. I think trying all different types of roles at least once would be fun, so I’m ready to try anything! How do you picture yourself in 5 years? Hopefully I’ll have built a more successful career and have made a name for myself. I also hope that I will still be acting and I hope to be working with some big names in the field one day! Lastly, would you like to say a few words to your friends and family back home? I’m sorry that I can’t go home as often as I want, but I hope I’m making you proud. I love you all and I’m always grateful that you support me no matter what I choose to do. Stay safe and I’ll come visit soon!
