The year 2022 has seen the birth/debut of some excellent talent. Today, we’ll take a look at some of the rookie female K-Pop idols who debuted in 2022 and have blown us away with their vocals. Note: Only one idol from each group was chosen. The list is not a ranking and it is in no particular order.
1. NMIXX’s Lily
It’s incredibly difficult to identify just one member of NMIXX to praise as a vocal as the whole group is top-tier in that department. However, today we’ll highlight NMIXX Lily’s vocal prowess. The phrase that encompasses Lily’s voice is ‘soulful spectrum’. Whether we’re talking about her ability to both rap and sing in an endearing way, her smooth transitions between techniques such as falsetto or showing a husky charm, or simply her ability to switch between languages effortlessly; Lily’s voice proves its wide range each time. 2. mimiirose’s Han YeWon
mimiirose has only just debuted in August 2022. However, their vocals (both the rappers and singers in the group) and particularly live performance skills have already blown us away. Among all of the talented members, Han YeWon especially has a gorgeous vocal color that is hard to miss. Her technique is solid and whether she is singing in a low register, killing high notes, or transitioning between the two; her vocals are exceptional. One of her charms as a vocalist is truly how effortless she makes it all look. Her voice really shines in the group’s “it’s live” performance of ‘Rose’.
3. LE SSERAFIM’s ChaeWon
ChaeWon’s vocals can be summed up in the word ’ethereal’. That is especially the case for her falsetto notes, but her voice generally has a heavenly quality. Her voice will soothe you and make you feel like your worries are fading away one by one. Check out her medley performance on “Lee MuJin Service” below. 4. IRRIS’ YunSeul
IRRIS’ YunSeul has a dreamy and refreshing quality to her voice. It has a calm stability and pretty flair that hit the ear like a pleasant and refreshing breeze on a warm day. Her adlibs are especially something to look forward to when watching their live performances as they add a flavorful pop to the song. Check out her vocals in this live performance of ‘WANNA KNOW’.
